The beauty of gemstones, there’s more to tell…

How much do you really know about gemstones? We love the colours, they’re shiny and look beautiful with summer dresses. However, there’s more to tell. Let’s start with highlighting; Chalcedony, Rose Quartz and Carnelian!

CHALCEDONY
15050RChalcedony is a cryptocrystalline, or a mineral with a microscopiccrystalline structure, in the form of quartz. The stone is transparent or opaque, it is a variety of translucent quartz, with colouring which can vary from white-light blue to green-blue, from yellow to pink and to red. Its corresponding elements are Air, which concerns the sphere of communication and the intellect (Wisdom) and Water which concerns the sphere of the emotions and of femininity (Love). Fifth chakra Vishudda (Throat) blue chalcedony. Blue chalcedony represented for the ancients the elements of air and water which symbolized both the aspects of communication: the capacity to listen and understand producing an optimistic attitude towards life.

ROSE QUARTZ
15388RRose quartz is a quartz containing silicon dioxide which is formed in pegmatitic rocks. In general it is translucent and pale pink in colour. It has a vitreous shine and an excellent diffusion of the light. Its corresponding element is Water which concerns the sphere of the emotions and femininity (Love). Fourth Chakra Ahahata (Heart). Popular tradition attributes to rose quartz the power to attract love and according to Greek mythology it was a gift from the god Eros to humans. Rose quartz is the symbol of femininity. It gives interior peace, balance, tranquillity and joy. Rose quartz opens up to love for oneself and for others, makes you feel worthy of receiving it, develops compassion and sensitivity, teaches generosity and tolerance.

CARNELIAN
15109RThe carnelian is a chalcedony containing iron, responsible for the red colour, which is formed in volcanic rocks from acid magma containing iron. If the mineral is heated slightly, its colour becomes more intense. The best known deposits, already exploited in Roman times, were those in Asia, in India and in Persia. Today it is extracted in Brazil and in Uruguay. Its corresponding element is Fire which concerns the sphere of energy and force (Courage). Second Chakra Svadhishthana (Abdomen) For the ancient Egyptians the carnelian represented the red symbol of life. Red chalcedony infuses force and optimism, as well as reaching one’s aims by going on to fulfil one’s dreams.
